My portfolio represents a collection of published pen&ink artwork spanning the last 20+ years to my more recent ongoing natural history art gallery series of paintings, which have all been rendered within the last 12 months.
MY RECENT ARTWORK
The medium I am most fond of working in is acrylic paint with black ink. Although trained in watercolours, I find advantages to using acrylic paint using watercolour techniques. The black ink is rendered over top the acrylic surface, then reworked several times with more paint and ink. I will often blend and blur the ink, creating tonal values that gives me a near photographic quality. It is a personal art style I have developed over the years, starting in high school, and was influenced heavily from my 30+ years work experience, from studying art history, and after receiving favourable comments from my mentor art teachers.

Many of the art art styles I use are influence from my experience of working in the medium of print during my art school years and working as a silkscreen artist. Although I owe a lot to the countless hours I have spent working with experimental art -- if I think a technique may work, a known or a new unknown technique, I will usually try it. Some of my best results have come from showing no fear in the face of what others have told me is too difficult, too time consuming, or impossible to achieve. They were wrong.
