Turtle A local park I used to visit had a large population of turtles around the park's lake. Many of these turtles could be seen sunbathing themselves on floating logs and on top of rocks. They were of a species I hadn't seen before although I was informed that these were the local native species. I was surprised to see them because I hadn't seen them in the lakes that were within walking distance of where I grew up.
