The Treasure Tree. This illustration was part of a large commission I received with the only instructions given, other than the final artwork sizes required, "That the artwork conveys a medieval atmosphere". The publisher came back to me with a lot more work soon after. I ended up working for them for two years and then they suddenly merged with another publisher and I worked for the new publisher for 12 more years. This illustration is a study of light and dark through shadows. Soon after completing this piece, I used the theme to create a painting, which was for myself (unpublished).
