The Tree Sisters is one of two of paintings I rendered of Rolley Lake. This is simply a beautiful location. Rolley Lake is closed during the Fall and Winter months due to the ground being boggy and therefore easily damaged with people walking along its trails. It is a unique park because there is a trail that circles the entire lake allowing for easy, level hiking. In the summer, many people swim, kayak, fish and canoe here.
I thought the scene looking south at three Western Hemlock tree saplings struggling for survival would make a nice painting with the sky and the lake as a backdrop. To the north is the start of the coastal mountains whereas to the south, the view is wide open. I have seen many beautiful cloud formations from this vantage point along Rolley Lake especially in the early evening sky.
