The Balrog. This art piece proved extremely popular with art directors, leading to more commissions from art directors/publishers. The final art has a slight misprint near the top right portion of the artwork where the ink didn't print properly leaving a small, lightly printed area. The original art director who commissioned this piece really liked this minor flaw as it was an authentic mishap resulting from the hand printed process. The piece was hand-coloured first and then blank ink was printed overtop of the hand-coloured art. This is the opposite of how medieval woodcuts would have been coloured.
