This is one of two paintings I rendered of local wild mushrooms. Surprisingly, I didn't have to drive very far to find the subject mushrooms for these paintings. This one was in my backyard and the other paint's subject was found in a park across the street from where I live. The abundance of wild mushrooms, with their immense varieties, in my area, is quite astounding providing you are seeking them out during the right season. My father used to belong to the Vancouver Natural History Society and took me along to various lectures on local fungi and on a number of mushroom hunts in Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.
