Making a Point. This piece was part of several woodcut illustrations I was commissioned to create for a client. They were all finished as full colour artwork, but I first start with the black line art, and then I color the pieces later, in a similar manner full colour medieval woodcuts were rendered 600+ years ago, but in reverse order: first coloured and then having the black ink applied overtop. Medieval woodcut art was at first painted after the black ink was printed and this was usually done by the owner of the book, although later, such colour art was available in books at an extra cost.
