This painting depicts what I saw as an ideal, or an enhancement of Cultus Lake at sunset looking westward. It was the essence of what I saw and felt. I thought of this piece as a poster for the lake, without type, and was rendered more as a design piece than anything else. Simplicity, feel, and especially design, is what I feel makes great art.
This painting formed part of my 30-piece solo art show under the title, An Eye On Nature: ART SHOW in February 2020. It is a slight departure from my usual art style. This piece was an experiment to see if I could render a large piece quickly. Although a fairly quick rendering, by my standards, it more than encompasses the elements and feel of the Cultus Lake location.
