Kanaka Creek is timeless. Carved out by the last Ice Age well over 10,000 years ago, the creek originates from several smaller streams up Blue Mountain. Kanaka Creek is a perfect place for a picnic or a starting point for a short hikes in neighbouring Cliff Park in Maple Ridge, BC Canada. I first ventured into this park when I was 14 years old and still often find myself walking through its wooded trails. It is unique place. Every 10 meters in this park yields a potential painting waiting to be captured. The location of my painting is the Bell Irving Fish Hatchery. The fish hatchery is located less than 30 meters away from the scene of my painting. This creek is a salmon breeding ground and has been for thousands of years.
