The ability and skill that comes from the many years of having worked for a living as an artist is an asset when working in vector art. It really helps knowing how colour work when creating shades of colour and creating with colour gradients. The principles remain the same when working with pigment or pixels.
Gloster Gladiator MkII.I created this piece in Adobe Illustrator as an experiment in working with vector art. I have created thousands of pieces of art using vector art since the late 1980s, using Adobe Illustrator (starting with version 2 and now I am working with version 26). There is hardly a day that goes by where I am not working in either Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop or both. There has been a marked demand for my work over the last two years. I just completed creating 120 icons for a mapping software company and now I am working on a map for a fantasy game. What I find interesting when working on any vector art project, is having the ability to paint with pigments/paint, where I paint on canvas, illustration board, etc. helps a lot when creating vector images that require reflective and ambient lighting lit surfaces to help create the illusion of an object being 3D.
