In my backyard, growing up as a child, we used to be visited by large, blue dragonflies. I never knew exactly where they came from but the woods across from our home had large areas pooled of water. Every year they showed up and every year I was captivated by how they flew on their hunting patterns, darting about, seeking flies and mosquitoes to eat while avoiding tree branches and flowers. I was always amazed at their size and the colour of their bright blue armoured bodies, as they cruised effortlessly across our property along their erratic flight paths.
I run painting workshops where I teach the techniques required to paint accurate and realistic dragonflies and butterfly painting on smooth river stones. My classes are typically a single 4 hour in length taught in a classroom setting. I provide the river stones, paint, brushes, and all other supplies needed. My workshops are relaxed classes with plenty of time and instruction for each attendee to complete up to 2 river stone paintings.
