Deer Lake Trail No.4 painting is one of four paintings I rendered depicting scenes around Deer Lake. The trail circles around the lake's entirety, crossing its marshlands via well maintained elevated wooden boardwalks and traverses through meadows on well-graveled footpaths. It is a wonderful place to walk, giving you a level hike lasting an hour or more and offering many potential ideas for future paintings. This landscape here reminds me of the English Fens and other European bog lands, where stone age and bronze age societies flourished and clustered around the wetlands as a source of plentiful food, protection from their enemies, and where their water deities resided.
