Burnaby Lake Trail
I first started exploring the trails around Burnaby Lake when I was a child. Many of the trails in this park today didn't exist then. I remember playing soccer on the fields at the West side of the lake as soon as the fields could be played upon. Before, this area of the lake was a swamp with dead trees and debris floating among the lake reeds. In 1972, the lake was dredged and all the resulting mud, mixed with a lot of sand, was dumped to form today's soccer fields at the west side of the lake. I played soccer on these new, wet fields as soon as they had grass.
I have always wanted to paint the landscape scenes found around Burnaby Lake because of the beauty to be found here but mostly because of my childhood memories of the park. Painting Specifications:
