Although an introduced and invasive species, the Himalayan Blackberries (Rubus armeniacus) are beautiful when their Fall colours come out. However, by no means are these colours guaranteed. I have many blackberry plants in my backdoor, which had beautiful fall colours in 2019 but not in 2020. I was looking forward to painting a larger version of my Blackberries in Fall painting using leaf samples from my local source but for some reason, their leaves turned yellow and then turned brown or remained green. Although, their yellow colour is nice it is not the beautiful yellow-red-pink that is so striking. I have noticed another invasive species, the Cutleaf Blackberry, in my backyard but it is only represented in small numbers. One bush has had all of its leaves turn a beautiful purple colour, and as such, more than merits becoming the subject of a future painting!
