Although an introduced and evasive species, the Himalayan Blackberries (Rubus armeniacus) are beautiful when their Fall colours come out. However, by no means are these colours guaranteed. I have blackberries in my backdoor, which had beautiful fall colours last year but so far, nothing this year. I was looking forward to painting a larger version of my Blackberries in Fall painting using leaf samples from my local source but for some reason, their leaves are turning yellow and then going brown or are remaining green. However, the yellow colour is still nice.
I have noticed another evasive species, the Cutleaf Blackberry, in my backyard but it is only represented in small numbers. One bush has had all of its leaves turn a beautiful purple colour, and as such, it more than merits becoming the subject of a painting!
