Class No. 2

Eric Hotz: Art Classes AT LANGLEY ARTS COUNCIL
With this class, I taught landscape watercolour painting focusing on free flowing techniques. My students were taught to mix colours and learned how to use the wax technique to create white cap water waves and also how to reduce the amount of paint applied to the working using the paper towel dabbing method. This landscape painting exercise was stress free, allowing for the experience of creating a free flowing sunset sky and water waves along a shoreline. This was fun to create, fitting easily into a 2-hour painting class. Samples of the final art can be viewed in the photos below.

Class teacher with assignments for a landscape watercolour painting.
Day 2 assignment watercolour demo painting.
Every student tackled this assignment with their own interpretation while creating their masterpieces!
Painting this landscape assignment is an experience with loose brush strokes and washed out textures.
Loosening up and keeping brush strokes free flowing makes for a beautiful, dreamy sky and setting sun.
A fun assignment and experience for new painters. Getting to know how watercolour painting works!
Day 2 alternative watercolour painting No.2. Students could choose this painting as their assignment.
