My Coastal Inlet Sunset painting was created from a local scene. I travel extensively throughout my area to capture local natural history scenes and to paint. I can stand at an ocean shoreline and then be in an alpine valley two hours later; the subjects I can paint are endless. This painting was created for my art students as a demonstration of how to blend sunset clouds, sky, and as a way to teach water shadows with dancing light reflections. This painting was designed to be doable for those who have never painted before, and yet still conveys atmosphere, temperature, and emotion.
